Eeek! I’m a bad little blogger. Wednesday, Jul 16 2008

So I knew when I set this thing up that I was going to have to really keep up with it and that it would be a challange. Well I’m super super busy and have fallen into the pit of doom! I haven’t crafted at all in it seems like forever. I have new stuff to photograph but haven’t even gotten around to that. Those should be up this weekend but so much is happening so fast we’ll just have to wait and see.

Just checking in to let you know that I’m not dead and neither is this blog, my dad has even agreed to set me up with a website all of my own! But before any of that can really get going I have to get ready for my trip to Sweden and Ireland, finish my last days at work which I’m quiting and therefor working extra hours, when I come back I need to get stuff set up for when I move into my appartment in the middle of august which also marks moving into a smaller room at home and then before you know it I’ll be starting a new school year studying art history and Northern Illinois. Talk about busy, I’m sick just thinking about it!

The perfect comfy summer dress! Thursday, Jul 3 2008

So I wanted something comfy to wear. Something a little diffrent with some style and an easy shape. I used a free burda pattern and this is what I came up with:

The Star Dress

This is a really bad pic but it really shows the shape and drape of it. I’m not 100% happy but it’s good enough.

The Star Dress

This one shows my fave part, the back. I love that the straps are wide enough to hide my bra but the back is low, very low actually!

My face! I do have one! Haha, the rest of the pics were so bad I couldn’t bear to show my face. Also a closeup of the fabric, it’s jersey knit from the clearance plus 50% off rack, it was like $0.75 a yard, woot!

The only complaint I have is that the sizing is a bit odd. I decided on the smaller size and I still had to take it in! Nothing monumental but I did it and I’m wearing it and it works! Totally bringing this to the Dells next week!

How to travel unlike a tourist Sunday, Jun 22 2008

Step one: research local fashion so you can fit in perfectly (that is minus not speaking a word of the language)

Step two: use your research to create amazing one of a kind clothes

I know I wont quite fit in no matter what I do but having traveled in the past I know that the number one cardinal sin is dressing like a tourist. You gotta at least try to fit in cause otherwise you’re just gonna be seen as just another stupid tourist.

Swedish designers include: Jenny Hellström, Whyred, Anja Hynynen.

Some simple little things that inspire me Saturday, Jun 21 2008

I haven’t been able to get around to taking any photos of my new work lately so instead I thought I’d share some things I’ve saved for inspiration. Maybe they’ll inspire you as well!

I will be traveling to Sweden and Ireland in about a month and I want lovely flowing dresses and shirts that are comfy and easy to wear.

Hey again, thought I’d show some of my old projects…

A cute little handbag I call the Charlotte York.

A wallet made out of recycled plastic bags.

A plaid clutch.

These are just a few of my purses, I have alot of other things I want to share as well!

Hello! Thursday, Jun 12 2008

Hi there! I’ve always wanted my own blog to post and share my sewing and craft projects. I finally decided after starting an etsy a few weeks ago that now was the time. Mostly my etsy is purses and bags but I also enjoy making and altering my own clothes. I hope to make a few friends too, someone who can teach me a thing or two about crafting (I still consider myself intermediate).

I just used a tutorial from threadbanger to change some unflattering but still cute jeans into a cute pencil skirt. I can’t wait to share that and more with you, that is when I get around to taking some photos. Thanks for checking me out and be assured there will be much more to come!
